Police: Intoxicated Man Arrested Near Train Station

Harrison police arrested a New York City man who had an active warrant out for his arrest and a Mt. Vernon man who they say was in possession of marijuana.

Harrison police arrested a man from New York City on Sept. 16 after he asked to go to a hospital, but a criminal inquiry revealed an active bench warrant, according to reports released this week.

Police say David Deich, 53, was intoxicated at about 2 a.m. when police responded to the area of Halstead and Harrison Avenues after receiving an emergency call.

When police arrived at the scene Deich was on a cell phone and told police that he was the one who called 911. He said that he wanted to go to the hospital before hurting himself, according to police. A computer check, however, revealed that Deich had an active bench warrant from New York City in connection to a criminal mischief charge.

Deich was placed under arrest and held at Harrison Police Headquarters until he was picked up by a representative from the New York City Police Department.

Harrison Police also arrested a Mt. Vernon man on Sept. 24 for unlawful possession of marijuana.

Police say 40-year-old Germaine Tinajero was traveling southbound on West Street at about 9:30 p.m. when he rolled through a stop sign. After police pulled him over the responding officer said he noticed a partially smoked marijuana cigarette on the dashboard of Tinajero's vehicle.

While searching the vehicle police say they also found a small, empty, glassine baggie on the inside pocket of a bag belonging to Tinajero. He was issued an appearance ticket to Harrison court on Oct. 12.
