Police: Hit and Run on Gainsborg Avenue

Harrison police say a 24-year-old Eastchester man crashed his car into two others and fled the accident scene last week.

Harrison police used a trail of leaking car fluids to catch a man they say was involved in a hit and run accident on Gainsborg Avenue in West Harrison last week.

A witness told police that a vehicle speeding down the road hit two two parked cars and fled the scene just after midnight on March 21, causing damage to the driver's side of each vehicle. Police noticed a trail of car fluid near the scene and were able to follow it to the area of Lakeview Avenue where they found a vehicle missing its front left tire.

A 24-year-old Eastchester man, identified himself to police at that time and admitted he was the driver. According to police, the man said he fell asleep at the wheel and stopped at a friend's house nearby to use the phone.
