Police Headquarters Opens Its Doors to the Public

See and experience the specialized equipment and departments available in our law enforcement ranks.

Harrison Police Headquarters will host its annual free open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9.

The event is an opportunity to see and experience many of the tools and specialized departments the police force uses for crime detection and prevention.

Police officers and fire department personnel from Harrison, Mt. Pleasant, Westchester County and New York State will be available to meet face-to-face and speak with the community. Dogs from the K-9 unit and emergency medical service and fire trucks will be at the headquarters for all to explore -- even a county police helicopter will even be landing at the site.

Free hot dogs, soda and popcorn will also be available for the public to enjoy.

The event offers something of interest for all age groups. Children will be encouraged to sit in the police helicopter, climb in the dive tank, interact with police dogs and witness their training, and explore police and emergency responder vehicles and equipment.

Adults will be equally fascinated by the specialized skills and departments being showcased. Police Chief Anthony Marraccini encourages all residents to attend.

“For kids it’s an educational and a fun experience. For adults there’s information here that the whole community should see, plus it’s a great opportunity to get to know the officers and force that are integral to this community,” Marraccini said.

The open house is Sunday, Oct. 9, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Police Headquarters, 650 North Street, Harrison.
