Police: Drunk Driver Hits a Tree Near Manhattanville College

The following is an of arrest report provided by the Harrison Police Department, it does not indicate a conviction.

A 22-year-old New Rochelle woman has been accused of driving while intoxicated after police say she was drunk when she crashed her vehicle into a tree near the campus in Purchase.

Irene Khechinashvili, 22, was standing near the accident scene at about 3 a.m. Sunday morning when police arrived. According to her arrest report, Khechinashvili told police she had been trying to pass another car on Purchase Street when she lost control and hit a tree.

Smelling alcohol, the officer at the scene asked Khechinashvili to perform a field sobriety test, which the officer said she failed. Khechinashvili was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. Police say her blood-alcohol level was .15—the legal limit to drive in New York State is .08.

Khechinashvili was released on $250 cash bail and is due in Harrison Court on Oct. 11.
