Police: Cocaine and Crack Discovered During Traffic Stop

The following arrest information was provided by the Harrison Police Department, it does not indicate a conviction.

Cocaine and crack-cocaine police say they found in a Massachusetts man's vehicle during a traffic stop led to drug possession charges.

Police say Steven Ruiz, 22, of Easthampton, MA. cut across three lanes of traffic without signaling while traveling eastbound on Westchester Avenue on June 18 at about 10:15 p.m.

While speaking with Ruiz, police report that he appeared shaky and nervous. According to his arrest report Ruiz told police they could search his vehicle and then admitted to having two bags hidden inside the change compartment of his vehicle. He told police that they were given to him by an unknown man in Brooklyn.

Police found two bags of what is believed to be cocaine in the change compartment, along with one bag of what is believed to be crack-cocaine in the vehicle's ash tray. 

Ruiz was placed under arrest for criminal possession of a controlled substance and released on $500 cash bail. He is due in court on July 5.
