Police Blotter: More Vandalism, Driver Asleep at the Wheel and More

The Harrison police blotter from July 2 - 12.

Another Car Keyed

On July 3, at about 10:30 a.m., Harrison police responded to a report of a vandalized car on Holland Street. According to the car's owner the vehicle was damaged by a key in several locations between 10 p.m. on July 2 and 9 a.m. on July 3, while the vehicle was parked for the night.

The owner of the vehicle said that she would like to pursue charges if the responsible party is found.

Possession of Marijuana

On July 4, at about 9 p.m., Harrison police stopped a vehicle on Mamaroneck Avenue for speeding. While interviewing 30-year-old Anthony Luciano, the driver of the vehicle, the responding officer reported a strong smell of marijuana.

Police searched the passenger compartment of the vehicle where they found two bags of marijuana. An officer at the scene also found an aluminum pipe containing marijuana residue in the car's center console. 

According to the police report, Luciano admitted to officers that the marijuana and pipe belonged to him. He was placed under arrest, processed and released at the scene. He is due in court on August 8.

Driving With a Suspended License

On July 5, at about 9:20 p.m., Harrison police stopped a vehicle traveling on Halstead Avenue for traveling without headlights. After stopping the vehicle, a computer check of the driver, a 25-year-old man, revealed a suspended license.

The driver was summonsed and released at the scene.

Driving While Ability Impaired

On July 6, at about 1:30 p.m., Harrison police responded to the intersection of Halstead Avenue and Purdy Street in response to a vehicle in the intersection with a driver slumped over the steering wheel.

The driver, identified as 34-year-old Eric Jiminez, was found asleep at the wheel when police arrived at the scene. Inside the car police found a six-pack of Mike's Hard Lemonade with half of the bottles empty. Police also reported noticing a strong smell of alcohol on the driver's breath.

Jiminez then failed a field sobriety test, according to police. At that point he was placed under arrest. After being transported to police headquarters Jiminez submitted to a breath test, which revealed that his blood-alcohol content was .03 percent, below the legal limit to drive. He was charged with driving while ability impaired and released to a friend.

Burglary Suspect Arrested

On July 6, at approximately 5:10 p.m., Harrison police noticed a vehicle registered to a known burglary suspect stopped at the intersection on Harrison and Halstead Avenues. The officer at the scene identified the driver of the car as 21-year-old Jormar Castillo and the officer at the scene reports that he had direct knowledge that Castillo's drivers license and registration were suspended.

Police performed a traffic stop and immediately placed Castillo under arrest for burglary, criminal mischief and harassment, he was also summonsed for aggravated unlicensed operation.

Castillo was due in court on July 12.

Driving With a Suspended Registration

On July 7, at about 8 a.m. Harrison police stopped a vehicle for not obeying a stop sign. While checking the license and registration of the driver, a 48-year-old woman, police noticed a suspended registration.

The woman was issued two summonses at the scene and was released.

House Egged

A resident living on Old Mill Road told police on July 7 that her home had been egged the previous night. The resident said that this was the second time this had happened in the past year and that she does not know who is doing the egging.

The homeowner said she wishes to pursue charges if the people responsible are found.

Driving With a Suspended License

On July 9, at about 10:20 p.m., Harrison police stopped a vehicle traveling on Anderson Hill Road for shining high-beams into on-coming traffic.

After performing a traffic stop, a computer check of the driver's license revealed a suspended license. The driver, a 47-year-old woman, was processed at the scene and later released.

Driving With a Suspended License

On July 10, at about 9 p.m., Harrison police responded to a traffic accident near the Renaissance Hotel. Upon arrival police spoke with the manager of the hotel who said that a driver had crashed into a concrete pillar and hit a light post near the hotel.

Police then spoke to the driver of the vehicle, a 20-year-old male. While filling out an accident report the driver gave police a non-driver identification card and did not have a drivers license on his person. Police checked the client identification number on the card and found that the driver's license had been suspended. The driver of the vehicle was placed under arrest, issued a summons and released at the scene. He is due in court on July 27.

Driving With a Suspended Registration

On July 10, at about 11:30 p.m., Harrison police stopped a vehicle on White Plains Avenue for speeding. The driver, a 43-year-old man, did not have a valid registration.

The driver was summonsed and released with a return court date of July 27.

Driving With a Suspended Lincense

On July 12, at about 11 a.m., Harrison police stopped a vehicle on Harrison Avenue because the driver was operating the vehicle while talking on a cell phone. The driver, a 45-year-old man, was found to be operating the vehicle with a suspended license.

The driver was placed under arrest taken to police headquarters for processing.

Driving With a Suspended License

On July 12, at about 10:15 p.m., Harrison police stopped a vehicle on Mamaroneck Avenue for speeding. A computer check of the driver, a 58-year-old man, revealed a suspended license. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters where he was later released. He is due in court on August 3.
