Police Blotter: March 22 - 25

A look at what's happening in the Harrison Police Department.

Marijuana Possession:

On March 22, at about 8:05 p.m. a Harrison police officer saw a vehicle driving on Harrison Avenue without license plates. The officer stopped the vehicle and reported smelling a strong odor of burnt marijuana. 

The driver of the vehicle, identified as 21-year-old Ryan Peterson, told police that he had a metal smoking device in the back of his car. Police say that in the car they found a device with marijuana residue in it.

Peterson was placed under arrest and processed at the scene. He was released on his own recognizance and is due in court on April 6.

Assault:

On March 22, at 9:15 p.m. Harrison police responded to West Red Oak Lane in response to a reported assault between two co-workers.

Police spoke with Rufino Gomez who told police that after a verbal argument he was pushed into a door molding by Guillermo Nava, a 47-year-old from Elmhurst. Gomez sustained a laceration in his forehead, causing minor bleeding.

Police found Nava in an employee cafeteria where police say he admitted to being in an altercation with Gomez. Police transported Nava to police headquarters. He was released on his own recognizance and is due in court on April 6.

Driving With A Suspended License:

On March 23, at about 10:00 p.m. Harrison police stopped a 19-year-old New Rochelle woman for driving without headlights after dark. Police say a check on the woman's license revealed that she had a suspended license.

The woman was placed under arrest at the scene and was detailed in the officer's vehicle. She was later released on her own recognizance and is due in court on April 8.

Driving With A Suspended Registration:

On March 24, at 8:47 p.m. Harrison police stopped a vehicle after a license plate reader indicated a suspended registration.

A check at the scene revealed that the suspension on the vehicle was suspended due to a lapse in insurance. 

The driver, 20-year-old woman from Mohegan Lake, was issued summonses with a return court date of April 6.

Driving With A Suspended Registration:

On March 24, at 5:15 p.m. Harrison police stopped a vehicle after a license plate reader indicated a suspended registration.

A check at the scene revealed that the suspension on the vehicle was suspended due to insurance lapse. 

The driver, a 47-year-old New Rochelle woman, was released on her own recognizance and is due in court on April 6.

Forgery/Fraud:

On March 25, at about 1:20 a.m. Harrison police stopped a vehicle with a broken brake light on White Plains Avenue. The officer at the scene reported a strong smell of alcohol inside of the car. The driver of the vehicle said that one of the passengers, 18-year-old Patrick Manus, had been drinking.

Police asked Manus to provide identification, when he reached into is wallet the officer on the scene reported seeing two different licenses. Manus gave both licenses to police who observed that the licenses had different dates of birth. A computer check done later that night revealed that a Maryland license in Manus' possession was not valid.

Manus was placed under arrest for criminal possession of a forged instrument. He was transported to police headquarters where he was arraigned at 3:00 a.m. He was released under his own recognizance and is due in court on April 6.
