Police Blotter: Man Arrested for Cocaine Possession

Cocaine and Marijuana Found in Car

Two Connecticut men were arrested on August 21 after police found what they believe to be marijuana and cocaine in their vehicle during a traffic stop.

Eduardo Miraballes, 41, and Constantine Tournas, 42, were traveling eastbound on Westchester Avenue at about 11:15 p.m. when they were pulled over for having a broken headlight. While interviewing the Tournas, who was driving, the responding officer reported a strong smell of burn marijuana. A computer check also revealed that Tournas did not have a valid driver's license in New York State.

Both men denied possessing any illegal substances, but a police search of the vehicle yielded a pipe holding burnt marijuana residue, a plastic bag containing more marijuana and a clear envelope containing what police believed to be cocaine. Tournas and Miraballas were arrested and transported to police headquarters.

While in police custody Miraballas told police that the substance in the vehicle was cocaine that belonged to his girlfriend. He also admitted that the marijuana in the car belonged to him. Miraballas was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance as well as unlawful possession of marijuana. He is due in court on Sept. 7. Tournas was charged with unlicensed operation.

Both men were released from police custody on their own recognizance. 

Driving With a Suspended License

A 27-year-old man was arrested on Aug. 20 for driving with a suspended license. The man was stopped by police while driving on Mamaroneck Avenue at about 9 p.m. for speeding. A police computer check revealed that the man's license had been suspended.

He is due in court on Sept. 2.

A 26-year-old man was arrested on Aug. 21 for driving with a suspended license. The man was driving on Westchester Avenue at about 2:45 a.m. when police stopped him for having a broken headlight. A police computer check revealed that the man's license had been suspended for failing to pay a driver assessment.

He is due in court Sept. 7.

A 40-year-old man was arrested on Aug. 23 for driving with a suspended license. The man was stopped by police while driving on Anderson Hill Road at about 9 a.m. after an officer noticed a tinted front windshield. A police computer check revealed that the man's license had been suspended for failing to pay a driver assessment.

He is due in court on Aug. 31.

A 21-year-old man was arrested on Aug. 23 for driving with a suspended license. The man was stopped by police while driving on Anderson Hill Road at about 7 p.m. for having an obstructed view. A police computer check revealed that the man's license had been suspended.

He is due in court on Sept. 14.

A Texas man was arrested on Aug. 23 for driving with a suspended license. The man was stopped by police while merging onto Westchester Avenue for failing to yield at about 7 p.m. A police computer check revealed that the man's Texas driver's license had been suspended for failure to pay a driver assessment and a previous DWI conviction.

He is due in court on Sept. 14.

Car Damaged

A woman told police on August 23 that someone had scratched a curse word onto her vehicle that had been left parked on Anderson Hill Road. Police found no video surveillance in the area. The woman said she would like to press charges if the vandal is found.
