Police Blotter: Man Allegedly Steals From CVS, Asks For Refund

A summary of arrests from the Harrison Police Department

A Mamaroneck man was arrested on Aug. 25 after police say he stole $110 worth of Crest White Strips from the CVS on Halstead Avenue and then tried to return them to the store for a refund.

At about 5:50 p.m., 41-year-old Allen Kenner entered the Harrison CVS on Halstead Avenue and tried to return two boxes of the teeth whitening product, telling cashiers he no longer needed them. The store manager checked his inventory and noticed that two of the five packages of Crest White Strips were missing from the store.

When the manager told Kenner that he was going to check the store's security cameras he told police that Kenner fled the store on foot. Mamaroneck police later stopped Kenner at the intersection of Mamaroneck and Prospect Avenues in Mamaroneck. He was identified there by the store manager and arrested for petit larceny.

Kenner is due in court on Sept. 14.

Man Arrested For Alleged Marijuana Possession

A White Plains man was arrested on Aug. 25 after police say they found marijuana in his car during a traffic stop.

Police stopped 22-year-old Wayde Barnes while he was driving on Lake Street in West Harrison because there was an object hanging from his rear-view mirror. As police approached the vehicle they smelled marijuana and asked Barnes if he had any drugs in his possession. 

Barnes told police that he had given a small amount of marijuana to a passenger in the car. According to the police report, the passenger gave a small bag of marijuana to the responding officer and admitted that it belonged to Barnes.

Barnes was placed under arrest for unlawful possession of marijuana and processed at the scene. He is due in court on Sept. 7.

Two Men Arrested For Allegedly Stealing Lawn Ornaments

Two men were arrested on Aug. 30 after police say they attempted to steal two decorative cement lions from the lawn of a home on Old Lake Street.

The owner of the home reported the alleged theft took place at about 7:30 p.m., and that the thieves had dropped the statues while being chased from the scene. The responding police officer reported finding two men matching the description of the thieves near the home and placed 26-year-old Vidal Ramirez and 22-year-old Marcos Lopez under arrest. Both men lived in a building on Old Lake Street near were the burglary took place.

The owner of the cement lions identified Ramirez and Lopez as the people who attempted to steal his property and both men were transported to police headquarters.
