Police Blotter: Driver Found With Meth, Vandalism and More

The events of the Harrison Police Department from June 17 - July 1.

Stolen Wallet

On June 19, at about 7:45 p.m., a man reported that someone entered his vehicle and stole his wallet while he was delivering a pizza to a residence on Purdy Street. Police spoke to two men sitting near the building who said that a group of youths had walked past the car, but that the witnesses did not see them entering the vehicle.

Police have no suspects at this time.

Driving With a Suspended License

On June 23, at about 3:30 p.m. Harrison police stopped a vehicle on Mamaroneck Avenue for having a broken brake light. When police used a computer to check the man's drivers license they found that it had been suspended in New York for failure to pay a fine out of Manhattan County in 1991.

The 54-year-old man was placed under arrest, processed and released at the scene. He was due in court on July 13.

House Egged

On June 24, at about 10 p.m. Harrison police responded to a home on East Park Avenue after the resident reported thumping sounds coming from the front of the home. The person living in the home later found broken egg shells and egg yoke on the front of her home.

A neighbor told police that she saw a group of unknown male youths throw eggs at the home and flee the scene. Police searched the surrounding area but were unable to find the vandals.

Graffiti Near Ron Belmont Pool

On June 25, at about 1:45 Harrison police responded to a report of graffiti painted on the pavement near the exit of the pool Ron Belmont Pool. The graffiti covered about three square feet.

There were no witnesses and security cameras in the area did not reach the location of the incident.

Driving With a Suspended License

On June 25, at about 5:30 p.m., Harrison police stopped a vehicle for performing and illegal turn on Halstead Avenue. A computer check of the driver of the vehicle's license revealed a suspension for failure to answer a summons. The 23-year-old man was placed under arrest and issued a summons. He was released at the scene and was due in court on June 29.

Car Window Smashed

On June 27, at about 1:15 p.m. Harrison police responded to a report of a car window that had been smashed on Lake Street. The owner of the vehicle told police that he found his vehicle with the back passenger side window smashed with an unknown object.

Police searched the area but were unable to find any further evidence, they also did not find any other damaged vehicles. The owner of the damaged vehicle said he will pursue charges if police find the person responsible.

Hit and Run/Meth Possession

On June 27, at about 10:30 p.m., Harrison police responded to a motor vehicle accident near Nelson Avenue. The responding officer reported that he had stopped the driver, 46-year-old Sammy Bolt, after he had struck a utility vehicle then knocked a parked car into another one.

According to an officer at the scene, Bolt continued to drive his vehicle southbound on Ellsworth Avenue after the accident before he was pulled over.

At that point Bolt was placed under arrest for reckless driving. During an inventory search of the vehicle, police found a black bag with a glass pipe inside of it. Police found five plastic bags containing a white substance believed to be methamphetamine inside the glass bag. Police also found four used hypodermic needles, a plastic bag containing hash and liquid methamphetamine.

Bolt was transported to police headquarters where he admitted that the bag containing the illegal substances belonged to him. He was charged with six offenses including illegal drug possession.

Another Egging

On June 30, at about 1:15 p.m. Harrison police noticed broken eggs on and around a police radar screen on Lake Street. There was no damage to the machine and no witnesses in the area.

Driving With a Suspended License

On June 30, at about 1:30 p.m. Harrison police stopped a vehicle for speeding on Mamaroneck Avenue. A computer check of the driver, a 22-year-old female, revealed a suspended registration.

The woman was issued a summons and released at the scene. She was due in court on July 13.

Unlicensed Contractor

On June 30, at about 2 p.m. Harrison police responded to a residence on Pebble Beach Drive after a report of an unlicensed contractor. The contractor stopped work at the scene and was issued a summons.

Vandalism - Criminal Mischief

On July 1, at about 8:50 a.m. Harrison police responded to a report of broken glass and eggs thrown at a home on Henry Avenue. The person living in the home said that at about 9:30 p.m. on the previous night she had heard voices and breaking glass outside. When she went outside she told police that she saw a youth running away and found a broken pane of glass. There were also multiple eggs thrown at the house.

Car Scratched

On July 1, at about 5:15 p.m. a woman found her car with a key scratch down the entire driver's side after leaving it parked in a lot near Westchester Avenue.

The owner of the vehicle said that she intends to press charges if the vandals are found.
