Police Accuse Man of DWI, Drug Possession

The following arrest information was provided by the Harrison Police Department, it does not indicate a conviction.

A Yonkers man faces several misdemeanor charges after police say they found cocaine in his vehicle and later determined that he was driving drunk.

Police stopped David Anderson, 32, at an exit ramp from the northbound Hutchinson River Parkway to Westchester Ave. at about 11:10 p.m. on June 26. Police say a plate-reader showed a registration issue.

After making the stop, police say Anderson, of 62 Lee Ave., Yonkers, had glassy eyes and appeared intoxicated. Police then noticed several empty beer cans in the vehicle. A license check also revealed Anderson's license had been suspended because of a previous driving while ability impaired arrest.

Police searched Anderson's vehicle and report finding a clear Ziploc bag containing what they believe to be cocaine. Anderson was transported to police headquarters where police say he failed a field sobriety test. He refused a blood-alcohol test, according to arrest reports.

Anderson was charged with driving while intoxicated and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanors. He was also charged with driving without a valid license.

He is due in Harrison court June 27.
