Pearl River High School Vandalism Cleanup Cost $3,500

The cleanup removed paint from the June 7 incident.

The Pearl River School District administration expressed its disappointment in students involved in the vandalism of Pearl River High School June 8, but that was not the only issue

The cost to clean the graffiti from the exterior walls of the building was also a concern. The initial cost was set at $2,500, but it have gone much higher if the walls had to be sand blasted.

According to Pearl River Director of Human Resources and Community Relations Diana Musich, the final figure for the cleanup came in at $3,500, a number that was kept down due to a method that was not as damaging to the walls as sandblasting.

Athletic equipment including hurdles from the track and the baseball outfield fence were also damaged.

Orangetown Police announced the arrest of two Pearl River High School students in relation to the incident June 12, but did not release their names or announce any further arrests.

The parents of these children should be required to pay for the cleanup - NOT the taxpayers,

I completely agree with M. Mandel's comment. The parents should then make these kids go out and get a part time job, so that they can repay their parents.
