NYC Man Caught With 100 Bags of Heroin on the Hutch, Police Say

Rashaun King, 33, faces charges that include criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree

A man traveling through Harrison with 100 bags of heroin stashed in his vehicle was arrested after a traffic stop on the Hutchinson River Parkway Thursday afternoon, police say.

Rashaun King, 33, of 3rd Ave., Manhattan, was stopped for a traffic violation at about 12:45 p.m. Thursday near the Interstate 287 Interchange. Westchester County Police Detective Joseph Berardi said he detected the smell of marijuana while approaching King's vehicle. The detective then found 100 bags of heroin packed in bundles of 10 inside King's vehicle, police said.

King was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree—a felony, along with unlawful possession of marijuana. He was held at the Westchester County Jail in Valhalla Thursday afternoon.

Westchester County Police say this is the second narcotics arrest they have made on the Hutchinson River Parkway this week. Police arrested Jeffrey Becker, 23, of Danbury, CT, after they say he was found in possession of 453 Oxycodone tablets and 43 Opana tablets valued at $15,000.

Becker was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree.
