New York State Police to Launch New Program to Fight Heroin Epidemic

High-ranking members of the New York State Police, the Westchester County Department of Public Safety and others will announce details Tuesday of the new "Drug Tips Reward Program."

As heroin use has grown in some areas of New York - including the Hudson Valley region - the state police Crime Stoppers division has stepped up its efforts to fight the epidemic, and officials will launch one of those initiatives during a press conference in Pelham Tuesday.   

The Crime Stoppers new "Rewards for Drug Tips Program" is designed specifically to help young New Yorkers in the Hudson Valley and rest of the state, and officials will discuss the program's details at the event.

New York State Crime Stoppers has become fully aware of the serious problem that Heroin has become, especially in our suburban and rural communities. Far too many of our young people are dying due to Heroin use. New York State Crime Stoppers decided it must become a part of the solution to the Heroin epidemic plaguing the many communities throughout our state.

On Tuesday, May 6, 2014, New York State Crime Stoppers hosted a meeting in New Rochelle with some of our major law enforcement partners to work out the details of a new "Rewards for Drug Tips Program" designed to combat the heroin epidemic effecting our young people in the Hudson Valley and throughout the State of New York.

New York State Crime Stoppers along with high ranking members of the New York State Police, the Westchester County Department of Public Safety and others will announce details of our new ‘Drug Tips Reward Program’ and launch the new program at a press conference.
