Minor Cited For Marijuana Possession

Harrison police arrested a 17-year-old for unlawful possession of marijuana after a traffic stop this week.

A 17-year-old Harrison resident was arrested on Oct. 1 after police say he was in possession of marijuana.

Police stopped a vehicle driven by the 17-year-old male at the intersection of Harrison and Halstead Avenues at about 8:30 p.m. when an officer in the area noticed several objects hanging from the mirrors and front windshield. While speaking with the driver the officer at the scene noticed a strong smell of marijuana and asked if there were any drugs in the car.

The 17-year-old admitted to police that there was one large and two smaller bags of marijuana in the vehicle. Police placed the driver under arrest and tested for signs of impairment. It was determined that the 17-year-old was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol and he was released with a court date of Oct. 12.
