Harrison Man, 38, Charged With DWI

The following arrest information was provided by the Harrison Police Department, it does not indicate a conviction.

A 38-year-old Harrison man faces a driving while intoxicated charge and marijuana possession citation after an early morning traffic stop downtown.

Darren Buer was pulled over after turning onto Harrison Avenue from Halstead at about 4:30 a.m. Saturday morning. Police say during the traffic stop they noticed a strong smell of alcohol on Buer's breath and determined that he was intoxicated.

Police say Buer failed a field sobriety test at the scene and he was charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor. Two Ziploc bags of marijuana were also found in Buer's jacket pocket, police say, and Buer was also cited for unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.

Buer, who lives on First Street, declined a blood-alcohol test at police headquarters. He was released without bail and is due in Harrison court April 3.
