With Judge Ronald Bianchi presiding, the court had its work cut out for it Tuesday morning, as approximately 61 cases were on the docket. Here is a summary of the day's cases.
DWI Suspect Receives Probation and Fine
Terrence M. Fife, accused of first-offense driving while intoxicated, was represented by his attorney Irwin Staple. Judge Bianchi fined Fife $500 plus a $400 surcharge, and sentenced him to a three-year probation period. Judge Bianchi also read the conditions of the probation, to ensure there could be no misunderstanding.

Staple argued for his client to receive permission to obtain his license temporarily for work purposes, to which Bianchi gave permission with conditions set by the district attorney.

Kevin J. Lepino, standing before the Judge alone, was charged with possession of marijuana, the unauthorized operation of a motor vehicle, driving with a suspended registration, and, to top it off, a defective brake lamp.
After a brief but very audible discussion with Judge Bianchi, Lepino was informed that, given the amount of his yearly salary as a construction worker for a private company in Westchester, he does not qualify for representation by a court-appointed attorney and will have to hire his own. His case was postponed to June 29.
Man Charged With Marijuana Possession Given Second Chance
Marcus Walter was offered an ACD (Adjournment Contemplation Dismissal) by the People for his charges of marijuana possession. Walter accepted the ACD, meaning if he stays clean and out of trouble for one year, the charges will be dismissed.
Unlicensed Contractor Pleads to Lower Charge
Angelo L. Gencarelli, also before the judge without representation, was charged with working as an unlicensed contractor. Judge Bianchi informed Gencarelli that he was entitled to be represented by counsel. After a short conversation with the district attorney, Gencarelli was offered a lesser charge of disorderly conduct by the People, with a fine of $50 and a surcharge of $125.
$185 in Fines for Man Accused of Driving without a License
Elder Lopez-Miranda also spent a few minutes speaking with the district attorney, with the help of a Spanish interpreter, about his charge of unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Lopez-Miranda was allegedly driving with a suspended license. The People offered Lopez-Miranda a 509-1 violation, meaning a lesser fine of $100 and an $85 surcharge.
Man Violates Probation
Carl Harris, currently on probation, confessed to dealing drugs during his probationary period. The People asked for a 90-day suspension and 1-year further probation following the trial, which Judge Bianchi set to be held on September 14.
