A White Plains man was arraigned today on a five-count indictment accusing him of raping a woman at knifepoint as she walked along Lake Street in White Plains on March 30, the Westchester District Attorney announced.
Alberto Gomez Ojeda, 29, approached the female victim, who was alone, and began sexually assaulting her just after midnight, the DA said. According to the indictment, Ojeda then forcibly raped the woman at knifepoint before leaving the scene.
White Plains Police investigated the incident and arrested Ojeda two days later.
Ojeda, who lives at 125 Lake Street, White Plains, faces one count of first-degree rape, one count of first-degree criminal sexual act and two counts of first-degree predatory sexual act, all felonies. He is also charged with misdemeanor criminal possession of a weapon.
He faces a maximum of 25 years in prison if convicted on the top counts of the indictment. Assistant District Attorney Wendy Parra of the Sex Crimes Bureau is prosecuting the case.
Ojeda has been remanded to Westchester County Jail until his next court appearance on May 22.
