Child Has Close Call With Paper Shredder

A safety feature protected the child from possible tragedy, Pelham police said.

A Pelham parent had to use a screwdriver to pry a child's fingers from the carriage of a home paper shredder.

Village of Pelham police responded to an emergency call around 2:45 p.m. March 8 from a frightened parent on Eighth Avenue.

Pelham Police Detective Richard Deere said an emergency feature turned the machine off before the child was cut and no injuries were noted.
