Career Criminal Sentenced to 20 Years for Pelham Manor Armed Robbery

David Piparo sentenced to 20 years for crimes including a 2010 armed robbery near CVS in Pelham Manor.

On November 24, 2010, a woman was carjacked at gunpoint outside the CVS Pharmacy at 4760 Boston Post Road in Pelham Manor. Weeks later, NYPD found the car in the Bronx and the man who stole it in a nearby apartment. Eventually, law enforcement discovered their suspect was a career criminal connected to several violent robberies dating back to 1985.

Today, Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore announced that

Following the sentencing, DiFiore said, “Cooperation with our law enforcement partners in the FBI, the U.S. Attorney’s Office and the New York City Police Department, ensures that this violent felony offender will effectively serve the rest of his life behind bars.”

As a result of the Pelham Manor police investigation, Piparo was eventually connected to at least 3 other armed robberies including one in Pelham Manor and 2 in the Bronx. Piparo also pleaded guilty to the November 3, 2010 armed robbery of Tes Oros Jewelry Store in Pelham Manor during a previous hearing.

In October, Piparo was sentenced to 22 years for those three crimes to be served in federal prison before he is turned over to New York State for the carjacking sentence.

Piparo had also previously been convicted of three violent felony robbery charges dating as far back as 1985 in Bronx County court.

To all investigators involved, Thank You on behalf of all of us! My 81 year old mother frequently drives through Pelham Manor. A car-jacking incident would have been horrific (at the very least!) for her. Put these guys away!

What ever happened to the "Twinkie Defense"? Oh, I forgot, they are out of business.
