74-Year-Old One of Three Charged With DWI

The following arrest reports were provided by the Harrison Police Department, they do not indicate a conviction.

A 74-year-old Massachusetts man has been charged with driving while intoxicated after a motor vehicle accident on Westchester Avenue.

Police responded to the accident just after 2 p.m. on Jan. 7. A woman at the scene told police she collided with Victor Maffei after Maffei backed out of Webb Avenue onto Westchester Avenue.

Police smelled alcohol on Maffei's breath and conducted a field sobriety test, which they say he failed.

Maffei, of 2 King Phillip Rd., Glouscester, MA, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. Maffei agreed to a blood-alcohol test at police headquarters. Police say his BAC was .13—the legal limit in New York State is .08.

After processing, Maffei was released on $200 cash bail. He is due in court Jan. 24.

A Bronx woman caught speeding down Mamaroneck Avenue was also arrested for driving while intoxicated, police say.

Maryann Emerick, 24, was driving 80 mph in a 40 mph zone when she was stopped at about 2:30 a.m. on Jan. 14, police say. The officer at the scene reported smelling alcohol on Emerick's breath at the scene.

Police say Emerick, of 88 Marine St. in the Bronx, failed a field sobriety test and was arrested at the scene. Emerick later agreed to a blood-alcohol test. Police say her BAC was .17—more than twice the legal limit to drive.

Emerick was released with a court date of Jan. 31.

Another speeding driver was charged with driving while intoxicated on Mamaroneck Avenue the next day, police say.

Amela Sujak, 24, was stopped for speeding on Mamaroneck Avenue just after 10 p.m. on Jan. 15. Police report smelling alcohol in the vehicle.

Sujak, of 2075 38 St., Astoria, failed a field sobriety test, police say, and was charged with driving while intoxicated. Sujak agreed to a blood-alcohol test, which police say revealed a BAC of .16—twice the legal limit to drive.

After processing, Sujak was released with a court date of Jan. 31.
