HCSD Budget Meetings

Harrison Central Schools Budget Process. This is not very well advertised, why?

In May of this year we will be voting for another school budget. Since seeing an article in Patch about a budget meeting I have looked at the Harrison central Schools web site and I cannot find any information on the budget session or anything about asking citizens to volunteer for the budget committee during this process. I most recently look this morning March 25 and there is no information on the budget process. The only budget information to be found is the date of the vote for the budget. I looked at the Mamaroneck Schools, and the Rye schools web sites and the information about their budgets in prominently posted and broken down to various stages in the process.  I know there are many Harrison residents who do not have children in our schools but don’t they have the right to know about the budget process? Why do you think this is being kept so quite? These taxes are a big part of our taxes in this town. When the town announces the budget process you can’t get a set at the town meeting but the school taxes are the bigger part of what we pay in this town and a great number of residents don’t know when these meetings will take place. The budget schedule of meeting should be placed in several different mediums so that everyone knows when these meetings take place. This should change.
