Harrison School Board Transparency?

BOE claims transparency but to who

In the April 19th issue of the Harrison Report an article states that the HCSD 2013-2014 Budget was released to the public on April 10th. What the Harrison BOE and Lou Wool call the public are the few residents who attend the BOE meetings. There was no general announcement that stated the BOE Budget would be available. In fact a Harrison resident called Lou Wool's office on Monday April 15th at 9:27 A.M. and asked to get a copy of the Budget and was told that the Budget was not ready and would be available between May 1 and May 7. The HCSD web site has no information at all about the budget. State law dictates that the School Budget must be available to the general public a minimum of 7 days before the Annual Budget meeting. Since the meeting is scheduled for May 8th the budget should be available by May 1st not between the first and seventh. The article also states that this is being released due to some questions about the transparency of the BOE. I find the information released by the BOE and Lou Wool in the article an insult to the intelligence of every resident of Harrison. The claim the Budget was released to the public on the 10th of April is a bit of stretching the truth. How could it be released if a resident asked for a copy on the 15th was told it wasn’t available? We all need to get out and vote on May 21st and let the BOE and Lou Wool know that we are paying attention and would like the school board to me more transparent. It is after all our money that is being spent.
