Title: Children's librarian
Working @ the HPL library for 7 years.
Describe working at Library in 3 words or less. Fun, varied, interesting
What is the best part of your job? The sense of community at the library
Favorite recent reads? Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking by Susan Cain and a book in Swedish called Hundraåringen som klev ut genom fönstret och försvann by Jonas Jonasson (The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared)
What is the most memorable reference question/request you've ever had from a patron?
A man came in and asked if I could find an article from the 1930's about a submarine that he was on. He didn't know where the article had been published or when and he wasn't really sure about the name of the submarine either. After much searching I was able to print out the full article and the accompanying pictures to boot. I don't think I've ever seen someone happier (or more surprised at what kind of information we at the library can hunt down)!
A book about your life would be called? The Girl Who Kept Moving (until she Stayed)
Something most people would not know about you: My native language is Swedish and I didn't learn English until the 5th grade
Hobbies, talents, special interests: I love love love to travel! I love wordless picture books, how the human brain works, and finding the best gluten free ginger molasses cookies.
Three words to best describe you: Smiling, kind, and principled (I got help from my friend with this one!)
Ability you wish you had: To speak all the languages of the world
Always wanted to try: SCUBA diving
