'Oktoberfest' Coming to Harrison for Fall Festival

The Harrison Players Theatre Group will host a fundraising event on Saturday.

From beer to Bratwursts to live entertainment, the Harrison Players will turn the Veterans Building on Halstead Avenue to a German Oktoberfest Saturday night.

The Harrison Players have been organizing and producing live performances in Harrison since 1973, they host about two performances a year and are approximately 150 members strong, according to co-president Jen Ricci. The performances hold open tryouts and are open to any interested parties.

On Saturday, the players will host a dinner/dance in the to fundraise for upcoming productions. The theme: Oktoberfest.

"We've done Italian theme nights and cabernet performance nights (among others)," Ricci said. "This theme is all German Oktoberfest, beer, brats and German decor."

There will be a live DJ at the event and room for dancing.

"Oktoberfest" starts at 7 p.m. on Saturday and is open to the public. The cost is $25 per-person with all proceeds going to support the Harrison Players Community Theatre.
