S.J. Preston Student Council and Green Key Service Club Partner for Food Drive

The Samuel J. Preston Student Council partnered with the Green Key Service Club to once again conduct a Thanksgiving food drive.   The food drive was conducted in early November and the students collected over 10 large boxes of non-perishable food items, such as pasta, juice boxes, cereal and soup.  These food items were donated to the Harrison Food Bank where local families can go to get assistance.

Prior to conducting the food drive, Mrs. Ruth Singer, a volunteer from the Harrison Food Pantry, visited with our students to discuss the Harrison Food Pantry and how the students could help.  The students had the opportunity to ask Mrs. Singer questions about how she helps families in our area as a volunteer, what food items are most needed and how the food gets distributed to those families that need it.

This is the sixth year Preston Student Council has collected food items for the Harrison Food Pantry, and the second year the Green Key Service Club has partnered in this giving event. Student Council Faculty Advisors are Thomasine Mastrantoni and Joe Gottschalk and the Green Key Service Club Faculty Advisors are Marissa Coulehan & Susan Speilholtz.
