S.J. Preston Elementary Students Honor Harrison’s Veterans

The students at Samuel J. Preston Elementary School honored many of Harrison’s Veterans of Foreign Wars at a school assembly in recognition of Veteran’s Day.  Members of the school’s Green Key Service Club under the supervision of Marissa Coulehan and Susan Spieholtz, narrated the event.

Dressed in the patriotic colors of red, white and blue, students and faculty from kindergarten through fifth grade serenaded the veterans as well as recently re-elected Mayor Ron Belmont and other community members with renditions of classics such as “You’re A Grand Ole Flag”, “Yankee Doodle Dandy”, “When Johnny Comes Marching Home”, and a medley of patriotic songs.  Students read the classic poem, “Got Your Back” by Autumn Parker and closed the program with a spirited rendition of “God Bless America.”

Veterans in attendance were Ben DeFonce, John Sposato, Al Stadenvoll, Bill Fraser, Richard Butler, Henry Mustacato, Fred Neale, and Mike Williams,
