Harrison High School Winter Varsity Sports Round Up through January 11th

Although the weather outside has been somewhat frightful, the HHS Boys Basketball team’s performance has been delightful.  The Huskies recorded impressive wins against Rye and in the Harry Jefferson Classic Tournament against Tuckahoe, where senior Matt Stein was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.  The Huskies suffered their only loss so far this season at the Harrison Tournament in late December at the hands of Fox Lane.  The team rebounded and finished in third place and senior Coby Lefkowitz was named All-Tournament.

The Girls Varsity Basketball team began their season with dominating wins over Valhalla and Croton-Harmon and the lady Huskies were impressive at the Harrison Tournament, capturing the title and MVP accolades for senior Paige Brabant and All-Tournament for senior Kyle Lefkowitz.  Unfortunately, the Girls opened the New Year with a loss against perennial powerhouse and last year’s NYS champions from Ossining.  The lady Huskies will look to regain their footing against Rye and Blind Brook this week.

The blended Ice Hockey team from Rye Neck/Blind Brook/Harrison had outstanding showings versus their local competitors from Fox Lane, Mamaroneck, Byram Hills and White Plains.  The team travelled up north for a Holiday Tournament and competed against teams from Plattsburgh and Thousand Island.  Although they were not victorious, the team gained valuable experience that they hope will translate into great play for the remainder of the season and hopefully post season play.
