Eight HHS Seniors Recognized in 2014 National Merit Scholar Program

Harrison High School seniors Jenna Lefkowitz and Liliane Lindsay have been named 2014 Semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship program.  They are among 16,000 semifinalists nationwide to be selected as the highest scoring entrants in each state and will be notified in February/March if they are finalists and possibly Merit Scholarship winners.

In October 2012, over 1.5 million U.S. high school students who took the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) and met other program participation requirements entered the 2014 competition for National Merit Scholarship Program recognition and scholarships. NSMC uses PSAT/NMSQT Selection Index scores – the sum of critical reading, mathematics, and writing skills scores- to determine 50,000 high scoring participants who qualify for program recognition.

Nearly two-thirds of those high scorers received National Merit Scholar Letters of Commendation in recognition of their outstanding academic promise.  Harrison High School is proud that six of its seniors were acknowledged as Commended Students in 2014.
