HHS Orchestra and Chorus Medal at Heritage Music Festival in Boston

The Harrison High School Orchestra and Chorus win gold and silver medals at Heritage Music Festival

The Harrison High School Orchestra and Chorus and Orchestra won Gold and Silver medals respectively at the Heritage Music Festival in Boston, a national invitation-only festival for high school musicians, on April 6th.

The HHS Orchestra, in only its third year of existence at the high school, received the Gold medal for their performance of “St. Paul’s Suite” by Gustav Holst.  The High School Chorus performed “Gloria” from Shubert’s Mass in F, “On Some Solemn Shore” with music and lyrics by Lockhart and Ramsey, and “Imaliyum”, a traditional Zulu dowry song, and was awarded a Silver medal.

The Chorus and Orchestra were invited to this year’s festival after a strong showing last year at the National Heritage Music Festival in Chicago.
