St. Anthony's 'Blue Mass' Moves to Saturday

The fifth annual mass will honor Harrison's police, fire and EMS workers as well as political leaders. It will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Church in West Harrison.

Harrison's now-traditional spring "Blue Mass" honoring all who protect and serve the town will take place this year on May 19.

After being held on a Friday night in recent years, the Mass will move to a Saturday this year. The "Blue Mass" is held at in West Harrison.

Since 2008, the annual Mass has given the community the opportunity to praise firefighters, police officers, emergency medical workers and public officials from throughout the region.

Rev. Christopher Monturo, who was sworn in as official chaplain of the Harrison Police Department during , notified the town board of the upcoming event earlier this spring. A reminder will be read at this week's Harrison Town Board meeting.

Everyone is invited to the Mass regardless of religious affiliation. This year's mass will begin at 5 p.m.
