You Can Help These Neighbors

Here are five ways you can help someone cope with trouble or realize a dream.

1. This family is coping with medical costs for a 11-year-old boy with brain cancer and a mom with a heart condition.

"A lot of people giving a little can make an enormous difference," said Maggie Buckley Pinque, the friend who started the GoFundMe campaign for the Anders family of Buchanan.

2. The Karma Vault is raising money through GoFundMe to cover the cost of its new studio in Pearl River.

"Our Official New Address is 197 S. Main Street, Nanuet 10954," said Stephanie Siroco.

3. A college student from White Plains is has a GoFundMe campaign for spring break—so she can spend the time in Louisiana volunteering for the ongoing Katrina rebuilding effort through a University of Delaware program.

"You should know that we pay for the trip ourselves and with funds we raise donated by friends like you. I know times are tough, but any support you could offer is greatly appreciated," said Charlotte Zeitel. "Here is a link to the UDaB website where you can read more about the mission of alternative breaks and my program."

4. At 63, William Evans is going to Mexico to assist a team of medical professionals bringing health care to mountain communities in the state of Colima.

"I’ve always wanted to be a part of such a hands on program like Project Amigo, which is a Rotary International recognized organization," the Brewster resident said on his GoFundMe page.

5. Hops and barley are on Billy Gallagher's mind as he works in Ossining to launch a new business: the Old Sparky Brewing Company.

"Our Mission: To brew and serve the best beer in NY," he said. "Help us fund our up and coming micro brewery. All donations will be greatly appreciated!"
