Patient AirLift Services 2,000th Donated Flight Lands in Westchester

Upstate New York cancer patient is recipient of PALS' 2,000th flight. PALS was co-founded by Greenwich's Joe Howley. Local pilots donate time, aircraft and costs including fuel for those in need.

Patient AirLift Services, "PALS," with its motto "Changing lives, one flight at a time," recently experienced a milestone: 2,000 donated flights.

PALS pilots donate their time and aircraft at significant expense, absorbing all expenses including fuel themselves. Typically the donated flights are for patients with a large number and duration of chemotherapy, patients who must avoid public places because of immuno-deficiencies, as well as wounded military personnel and their families.

Last month Tony Braddock flew cancer patient Olivia Chin from Binghamton New York to the Million Air Terminal at Westchester Airport. It marked PALS' 2,000th flight. After landing, Braddock also drove Chin to her to Cornell Medical Center for her cancer treatment.

PALS co-founder is Greenwich, CT resident Joe Howley, who has volunteered for multiple flights, and absorbed all costs. PALS is always looking for pilots and volunteers on the ground, including "Auto" Pilots who help out by providing ground transportation between air terminals and medical treatment destinations.
