Buy a Ribbon, Change a Life at Rye Sidewalk Sale

Harrison resident Mary Grace Henry, a 16-year-old student at Sacred Heart, started her business when she was 12 as a way to make a difference and to help change lives, she said.

“I wanted to start a sustainable business because I know education is long-term,” Henry said.

Over the last four years the business has supported 34 girls, mostly in Kenya and Uganda, and raised enough money to pay for 80 years of tuition.

Henry and two interns make the ribbon headbands, bows and other accessories in Henry’s basement. All of the profits are then donated to her own cause, Reverse the Course. Henry does not pay herself or anyone else a penny. She relies on sales and donations to keep the business running and to keep making a difference in the lives of African girls who want an education.
