Taking Steps against Child Abuse Walk-a-thon

The
Child Abuse Prevention Center (CAPC) of New York will hold its 4th
Annual Walk-a-thon at Rye Playland on Sunday, April 27 presented by Active International.  This community-wide event is timed to
increase awareness of at-risk children and families in Westchester during Child
Abuse Prevention Month.  Enjoy children’s
games, entertainment and refreshments.  Some
of our sponsors include Di Muro Awards,
New Balance Westchester, Rivertown Runners, and Sir Speedy Pleasantville.

All
community members are encouraged to participate and make a difference in a
child’s life by walking, creating a team with friends, family or co-workers,
joining a team, or making a donation in support of other walkers. Register
online at http://capcwalkathon.dojiggy.com
or register between 8:30 and 9:30 AM the day of the walk at Playland.  The walk starts at 9:30 AM.  Registration is $25 for adults and $10 for
children under 16.

Since
1982, the CAPC has been providing in-home support to overwhelmed caregivers all
over the county.  CAPC works to reduce
the incidence of child abuse and neglect while strengthening the parent-child
relationship in the home.  All the proceeds
from the Walk-a-thon go directly to help fund the CAPC’s programs and services,
which include a Parent Aide Program, a 24/7 Parent HelpLine, Parenting Groups
and Workshops, and a Speaker’s Bureau.  90%
of the funds raised for this walk go directly to help children and their
families.  For more information, contact:
Linda Paver at (914) 997-2642.
