Kickstarter-Crowdfunding Course

The Writing Institute at Sarah Lawrence College is pleased to announce that veteran fundraiser and former SUNY New Paltz Filmmaking Professor Suzanne Grossberg is teaching a one-day course entitled Kickstarter-Crowdfunding Campaign Development: Writing and Branding for Maximum Results.

In today’s competitive marketplace, Kickstarter and other crowdfunding web-based platforms enable young artists, business entrepreneurs, inventors and nonprofit do-gooders to raise funds needed to launch art projects, new businesses, product lines and critical philanthropic programs. In this 4-hour course, students will review various crowdfunding websites and campaigns; analyze the effectiveness of each site's format and content; select an appropriate crowdfunding application; and develop, write and brand their own projects for maximum fundraising results. Participants are required to bring their own laptops, iPads or tablets and brown bag lunches.

Ms. Grossberg has a 23-year successful history of raising millions of dollars for the arts, education and research. She is currently president and CEO of her own consulting company and has helped numerous nonprofits with strategic planning, board recruitment, national fundraising and public relations campaign development, grants research and writing, and event planning and execution. Ms. Grossberg earned her MA in Creative Arts Interdisciplinary from San Francisco State University and her BS Magna Cum Laude in Communication Arts from SUNY New Paltz.
