Harrison Council for the Arts Presents "Medley" Paintings by Joan Lengel Nov 4-30, 2012

Harrison Council for the Arts presents paintings by Joan Lengel at the Harrison Public Library, 2 Bruce Avenue, November 4-30 with an opening reception November 10 from 2:00 to 4:00pm.

This series of paintings entitled “Medley” is inspired by nature and its beauty, contrasts and spontaneity.  Joan’s style is aimed at communicating an emotional response as opposed to a literal translation of what she sees.  As in a musical composition, she sets out to convey the rhythm, harmony and color of nature on to the canvas, using a broad palate, textural approach, varied brush strokes and layer upon layer to represent nature’s complexity and diversity.  By giving them musical titles, she also hopes to evoke the connection and influence music has on everything she paints.
