ElderServe To Present Program For Caregivers About Alzheimer's

The Alzheimer’s Advisory Committee of ElderServe’s Safe Center for Seniors will present “When Families & Friends Care,” a free conference for seniors, family and professional caregivers on Monday, Oct. 15 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the New Rochelle Office for the Aging, 94 Davis Ave., New Rochelle. ElderServe’s Safe Center for Seniors - the community services division of the Hebrew Home for the Aged at Riverdale - is a one-stop clearing house of information for seniors and family caregivers.  

Workshops topics will include ways to better communicate with doctors and family members, how to tap into resources and support services, ways to lower stress and how to create a “no fall zone” in your home to ensure safety for your loved one.  There will also be a workshop on how to recognize signs of Alzheimer’s disease and how to manage changes in behavior.

The workshops will take place from 2 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. and from 3:45 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Speakers will be from ElderServe’s Alzheimer’s Advisory Committee, the New Rochelle Office for the Aging, Caregiver Access.org and A Healthier You, LLP.

The program is funded by the Westchester County Department of Senior Programs and Services, the Hebrew Home for the Aged at Riverdale, the City of New Rochelle Office for the Aging, the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, the New York State Office for the Aging and the Mid Central and South East regional Livable Communities Connection sites.
