White Plains Ave. Bridge Closed This Weekend

The bridge, which serves as a popular connection to downtown for West Harrison and Purchase, will be closed Friday night until Sunday.

The White Plains Avenue Bridge will be closed in both directions this weekend as construction crews continue an expected $53 million renovation project on Interstate 287.

The bridge passes over the interstate and is used by many West Harrison and Purchase residents to reach the downtown area. It has been closed northbound for several months, this weekend the southbound lanes will close as well.

The bridge is expected to close Friday night and reopen Sunday evening. Southbound traffic will be diverted west where drivers can cross the interstate and merge with Westchester Avenue in White Plains.

Northbound traffic has been diverted east to the bridge near Anderson Hill Road since construction began on the bridge last fall. The latest construction project on Interstate 287 and is expected to take at least two years to complete.
