Wear Your Ugly Holiday Sweater With Pride at Weekend Party

Ironic hipsters conquer the ugly holiday sweater meme. Show yours off at nearby bars in White Plains.

It’s the one part of the holiday season you can do withoutNo, it’s not fruitcake—but the dreaded ugly Christmas sweater.

You’ve seen them on your aunts and, on unluckier years, in your Christmas stocking—so loud and gaudy you’d almost swear your eyes were stinging from the sight of the bells, glitter and brightly colored embroidery all on one article of clothing.

While many have shunned the snowman, reindeer and Santa sweaters, this year Black Bear Saloon and Wicked Wolf Taverns are embracing the traditional holiday fashion faux pas by holding the Ugly Christmas Sweater Party at their tri-state area locations on Saturday, Dec. 17.

“We went with the ugly sweater theme, because it’s fun,” said Jesseca Carroll, of Black Bear White Plains. “It brings out the personality in everyone. Instead over being dressed-up in your button down shirts and jeans, it kind of shows the other side of people—how everyone likes to let loose, and have a good night out and not have to be prim and proper all the time.”
