Wake Up with Patch: 'Savor the Flavor' HHS Band Fundraiser, Westchester Ballet Performance at Purchase

A look at five things to know this weekend, Friday, April 8, through Sunday, April 10, 2011.

1. New Botanical Illustration Exhibit at Library

Saturday is the first day of a new exhibit at the Harrison Public Library. Each month the Harrison Council for the Arts sponsors an exhibit. This month's featured artist is Rose marie James, a graphic designer whose . A meet and greet with the artist will be held Monday, April 11.

2. Westchester Ballet Company Performs at Purchase College

The Westchester Ballet Company will celebrate its 60th anniversary Saturday night with a performance called "Shaping Lives through Dance." The performance will be held at Purchase College's Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m.

A Friday morning dress rehearsal is open to the public at a reduced ticket price of $12. This performance will be held at 10 a.m. Read for more about the performance and how to purchase tickets to both performances.

3. County Hosts Household Recycling Days This Weekend

Westchester County will hold two "Household Material Recovery Days" this weekend. One will be held Friday from 12 p.m. - 4 p.m. and the other will be on Saturday from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Both events will be held at FDR State Park in Yorktown.

4. Win Pitching Lessons with Mariano Rivera at HHS Band Fundraiser

The Harrison High School Band is holding a fundraiser Saturday called "Savor the Flavor" at Manhattanville College's Reid Castle from 7 - 11 p.m.

The evening will include musical performance, food, a cash bar and raffles. Donated prizes include a 30-minute pitching lesson with Mariano Rivera and lunch in Washington D.C. with Congresswoman Nita Lowey.
