Wake Up with Patch: Music and Autism Conference, Farmers Market Today

A look at five things to know on Tuesday, March 22, 2011.

1. Autism and Music Symposium Today

Purchase College's School of Natural and Social Sciences and the Conservatory of Music will host a day-long symposium today. Entitled "The Autistic Mind, Music and the Brain," the conference will feature leading researchers and discussions on using music to enhance cognitive functioning of those on the autism spectrum.

The symposium will be held from 9 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. in the music department's recital hall on the Purchase College campus.

Admission is $100 and includes lunch.

2. Farmers Market Today

The Pepsico Farmers Market will be held today from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at 800 Anderson Hill Rd., Purchase. If the weather is nice enough, maybe this will be the first outdoor market of the year!

3.  Two Arrested After Fight Outside Harrison Bar

Police arrested a Harrison woman earlier this month for allegedly assaulting a man outside of Anthony's Bar and Grill on Harrison Ave. Witnesses said the man may have said something derrogatory about the woman and her 16-year-old daughter. A man was also arrested that night for stealing a camera from someone recording the fight.  To read more about this incident, .

4. Women Vendors Sought for "Browse and Buy"

An organization called the Professional Women of Westchester is seeking women vendors for a "Browse and Buy" event in Ardsley on April 4.

Vendor booths are $100 for members and $150 for non-members. The group says the event is meant to foster a networking and local shopping for the county's women. For information on how to sign up, . 

5. A Year Ago on Harrison Patch...Police Say Driver Error Caused Prius Crash

On March 22, 2010, Harrison Police issued a statement saying that the for the crash of her Toyota Prius in Purchase earlier that month.
