Wake Up with Patch: HHS Earns Impressive Ranking, Free Toddler Stories at Library

A look at five things to know today.

1. HHS Earns Top High School Ranking

The Washington Post has ranked Harrison High School the best high school in Westchester County and the fourth best in New York. The rankings are a part of the publication's "High School Challenge," which assesses high schools based on the number of advanced course tests students took last year.

The high school also inducted into the National Honor Society this week.

2. Free Toddler Story Time at the Harrison Library

From 10:30 - 11 a.m., the will host "Storyland," a free group for little ones ages three to five.

From 11:15 - 11:45 a.m., the library will host "Circle Time for Tots," another free event for younger kids ages one to three.

3. Chance of Thunderstorms This Morning

The National Weather Service predicts a 40 percent chance of thunderstorms this morning, until 1 p.m. The afternoon is expected to be sunny with a high temperature of 87 degrees.

4. Sports Roundup

Check out for a roundup of high school spring sports. The varsity softball team had their last night, while the baseball team also lost their playoff game.

5. A Year Ago on Harrison Patch: Town Board Members Oppose Hydrofracking

On June 1, 2010, Harrison Patch covered where two board members expressed opposition to hydrofracking. The board later signed a declaration opposing the form of gas drilling in the area of New York City's watershed.
