Spring Break Activities For All Ages

The Harrison Parks and Recreation Department is working to ensure this spring break will be fun for all.

Harrison residents of all ages are being offered a myriad of leisure activities by the Harrison Recreation Department this week, giving everyone some fun, safe and local options for spring break entertainment.

All ages are welcome to make use of the town's recreation centers. The Sollazzo Center has a game room with ping pong, air hockey and foosball tables; an entertainment room with HD cable, Playstation 2 and Wii sports games; two outdoor basketball courts and an indoor gymnasium.

The Leo Mintzer Center in West Harrison also offers many of the same indoor facilities.

Semi-private or private horseback riding lessons are also available at the Kentucky Stables on Union Avenue.

Instructional programs offered by the department include archery, karate and lifeguard training.

For those looking for a change of scenery, there are also several great activities available outside of town.

The Cliffs at Valhalla, is an indoor rock climbing facility that caters to ages six and up; and is for all fitness levels. For a $16 full-day pass, you are taught to climb using ropes and rock climbing walls.

Grand Prix New York, in Mount Kisco, offers great fun and adventure with indoor go-kart racing. This is an outing the whole family can enjoy, so don't feel like you can't bring the kids. On weekends, in addition to their racetracks, they have two of the largest bouncy villages on the market, a build-a-bear program and a fully equipped games arcade.

There is also the option of a day in Manhattan, where teens as well as younger kids, will love the Monster Boat that leaves from Chelsea Piers. It is a high-speed adventure boat, painted like a fighter jet, that provides entertainment on board as you are taken at hair-raising speeds around New York.

Another Manhattan option is Ellen's Stardust Café on Broadway. The incredibly talented wait staff, many of whom have been employed in leading Broadway shows, will make everyone's day by bursting into song and literally dancing on the tables.

Don't wait for anyone to to give the age-old vacation moan of "I'm bored!"

Make use of the programs, activities and special events offered and ensure this spring break is a memorable one.
