Bronxville: Brendan Gill Lecture Featuring Pulitzer Prize Winner Jon Meacham

Place: Sarah Lawrence College

Description:  The Sarah Lawrence String Orchestra performs Ernest Bloch's “Concerto Grosso for String Orchestra with Piano Obbligato” and Johann Joachim Quantz's “Flute Concerto in G Major, QV 5:174.” Featuring soloists Andrea Rivera and Caleb Jaster, piano.

Harrison: Watercolor Exhibit 

Place: Harrison Public Library, 2 Bruce Ave.

Description: The "Wings and Water: Transitional Nature Studies" exhibit of watercolors by award-winning artist Christine Morgan/Teter is sponsored by the Harrison Council for the Arts.

When: An opening reception will be held 2-4 p.m. April 13—or you can experience and enjoy the paintings any day through May 6.

Hastings-on-Hudson: Village-Wide Tag Sale

Place: Hastings-on-Hudson, NY, click here for the map

When: Saturday, April 13th 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Description:  The Hastings-on-Hudson Recreation Department is holding a village-wide tag sales, where various homes throughout the village will have garage sales.

Cost: Free

 

New Rochelle: Stride 5K Walk & Run

Place: Iona College

When: Sunday, April 14, 2013, 9 a.m.

Description: Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. Please register yourself or your team. All funds go directly to the Jacee Lynn Capelli Diabetes Center which provides education and support to people with diabetes and prediabetes. This Center is the only one of its kind in lower Westchester County, certified by the American Diabetes Association. 

Cost: $20.

Rye Brook: First Annual Carnival

When:  Friday, April 12 from 5-10 p.m., Saturday, April 13 from 12 to 10 p.m., Sunday, April 14 from 12 to 5 p.m. 

Where: The carnival is located at 900 King Street, which is directly behind Rye Brook Village Hall and accessed through Arbor Drive. 

Description: The Village of Rye Brook is excited to offer its first Carnival this weekend. There will be Bumper Cars, The Sizzler, The Scat, a Merry Go Round, a 30 foot Ferris Wheel, The Starship, a Giant Slide, The Dizzy Dragon, Circus Town, Truckin USA, Space Sled, Surfs Up, The Swinger, and The Hampton. In total, there will be 15 rides. There will be carnival games and vendors and all types of carnival food, including hamburgers, hot dogs, sausage and peppers, and ice cream. 

Price: Admission and parking is free with additional fees charged for the food and rides.

White Plains: The Importance of Being Earnest

Where: White Plains Performing Arts Center

When: April 13, 14

Description: Having just re-read Oscar Wilde's masterpiece, I can say without doubt that this is one of the funniest plays ever. We're talking about people who take their diaries with them so they have something exciting to read on the train. It's about manners, society, humbug and relationships between the sexes.

Cost: $35 for adults, $25 for high school and younger
