Most Restoration Estimates 'Pending'; Thousands Still Without Power

Consolidated Edison has said the process of restoring power to Westchester County will be a lengthy process. Estimated restoration times are still not available in Harrison, West Harrison and Purchase.

There is not much good news for the thousands Con Ed customers in Harrison, West Harrison and Purchase still without power Thursday.

Con Edison has no specific estimates for when wires will be repaired and when the power will be restored locally, according to an outage map provided by the utility company. Officials have estimated people experiencing problems with above-ground lines could have to wait at least a week before their lights turn on.

More than 168,000 people county-wide remain without power in Westchester as of Thursday morning, according to Con Edison.

Hundreds of thousands more are without power in New York City. County Executive Robert Astorino released a statement Wednesday saying he has received assurance from Consolidated Edison CEO Kevin Burke that resources will not be diverted into New York City. But the CEO representatives have also said priority will be given to more populated areas during the initial restoration effort.
