Morning 5: Volunteer Opportunity, Farmers Market

A look at five things to know while you start your Friday.

1. Looking For a Place to Volunteer?

The Westchester County Center will host more than 120 charitable organizations who are looking for your help! The event, called “Serve and Learn: Westchester Remembers 9/11” will take place from 2 - 7 p.m. 

2. Harrison Football Opens Season Tonight

The defending Section I Class A champions and New York State runner-up Harrison Husky football team will return to action tonight at Harrison High School. The Huskies will take on Lakeland at 7 p.m. at McGillicuddy Stadium. 

3. Flooding Shouldn't Be a Problem Today

The National Weather Service estimates only a 30 percent chance of rain today, mostly after 3 p.m. Other than that predictions call for partly cloudy skies with a high around 82 degrees. Hopefully a break from the rain will allow some of those flood trouble spots to dry.

4. West Harrison Farmers Market

The West Harrison Farmers Market will be held tomorrown morning from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The market will be held every Saturday into October. Check out our Market Spotlight series for some of the offerings you can find at the market.

5. One Year Ago in Harrison...

On Sept. 9, 2010, the Harrison Association of Teachers shared their story about how they to students for the school year. The backpacks were bought almost entirely with donations from Harrison teachers.
