Moms Talk: Does Your Family Have a Disaster Plan?

Does you have provisions on hand and a safety plan for when disaster strikes?

Yesterday's was centered in Virginia, but tremors were felt throughout New York. Luckily, the earthquake didn't cause any damage here, but such an unusual event could signal to some people the need to be better prepared for a natural disaster.

Does your family have a plan in the case of a severe earthquake, hurricane or fire? If one of these events occured right now, what would you do?

FEMA launched a website, www.ready.gov, in 2003 to help people address such concerns. From stockpiling three days worth of food and water to creating a plan to contact family members, ready.gov provides essential information for people in case of an emergency.
