A look back at the week in Harrison news.

A truck fire on the New England Thruway, a two-car accident on Westchester Avenue and the screening of a controversial documentary in the Harrison Library were three important stories this week out of Harrison.

Police believe 40-year-old Leticia Chavez drove drunk with her child in the car on Westchester Avenue Sunday night, causing a two-car crash. The crash sent Chavez and her son to the hospital with serious injuries.

Chavez is facing four felony counts including reckless endangerment, aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child and three counts of vehicular assault. She was also cited for unlicensed operation and having an open container in the vehicle, according to Harrison Police.

GasLand, a controversial documentary by Josh Fox about hydraulic fracturing was screened in the Harrison Library on Wednesday evening. About 50 people attended the screening which was hosted by Assembyman for the 89th District Bob Castelli.

The film raises questions about the dangers of hydraulic fracturing, a method of extracting natural gas. Coincidentally, the New York State Senate passed a short-term moratorium on natural gas drilling near the New York City watershed on Tuesday night.

Harrison police responded to an attempted armed robbery in Larchmont on Wednesday afternoon. Police say that two men attempted to rob a delivery truck near the Larchmont train station, but ran away before taking any money.

Police continue to search for the robbers, but did find a black pellet gun that they believe was used during the attempted robbery.
