Juke Joint Plays Tarrytown; New Westchester Symphony Orchestra; Doansburg Chamber Ensemble

There is something for everyone to do this week in the Hudson Valley.

 Aug. 5. All day. Head to King Kone for ice cream and some fun in the sand box Sunday and help support the Stephanie Crispinelli Humanitarian Fund which builds schools in Jamaica, among other endeavors. Crispinelli was a Somers resident who died during the 2010 Haiti Earthquake while doing humanitarian work in the country. All of King Kone's sales on Sunday will be donated to the fund. , 109 Route 100, Katonah.

. Aug. 8. 6 p.m. Pleasantville native and author Peter Altschul hosts a book signing benefiting Guiding Eyes for the Blind in honor of International Assistance Dog Week. Altschul will sign copies of his memoir, "Breaking Barriers: Working and Loving While Blind," which will be on sale at the event. All ages welcome. For more information, call 914-243-2208.  Aug. 5. 10:30 a.m. Learn why families hang Mezuzahs on their door posts and make your own to take home at Congregation Sulam Yaakov, Larchmont’s Conservative Synagogue. Aug. 5. 4 p.m. The Doansburg Chamber Ensemble continues its string trio with flute concerts Sunday in Brewster. The Ensemble features flutist Christine Smith, violinist Brenda Vincent, violist Ina Litera, and cellist Matthew Goeke. Mozart’s Quartet in C Major, Quartet No. 3 in D Major by A. Rolla, Mercadante’s Quartetto in A Major, and Ouartet in C minor Opus 22/2 by G. Battista Viotti to be played. Tickets for the concert are available at the door at $10 for general admission and $9 for seniors and students.
